Alert:
...Brief Period of Light Snow Possible Tonight...
A cold front is forecast to move through the region early this
afternoon. In the wake of the front passing through, sharply
colder air will work back into the region from west to east.
Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing in areas west of
I-65 by early this evening. Areas out toward the I-75 corridor
will see temperatures drop below freezing by midnight.
As this colder air comes into the region, it will catch the back
edge of the departing rain shield. This may result in a period of
light snow this evening, mainly in areas east of the I-65
corridor. A minor accumulation of snow is possible before the snow
diminishes late tonight.
With temperatures expected to drop into the 20s overnight, any
residual water on area roadways will likely refreeze. Black ice
may be an issue overnight and Thursday morning and could
negatively affect the Thursday morning commute.
